Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know before — or while — learning with Interactive Lessons: how the method works, what is free, and what a paid year unlocks.
What should I do in the language courses on this site? How should I study, and how should I progress?
Work through the lessons in order, from the first chapter onward. Each lesson takes you through six short steps — recognise the word, match it, use it in a sentence, meet it in a story, hear and write it, then translate it yourself — so just following the lesson from start to finish is the study method; there is nothing extra to prepare. A lesson unlocks the next one once you have completed it once, so you always know exactly what to do next: open the next available lesson and go through its six steps.
How can I strengthen my vocabulary?
Repetition spread out over time is what actually works, and the course is built around it automatically: every word you learn reappears in a sentence, then in a story, then in a listening exercise, then in a translation — and again in review tests after each chapter, after every few chapters, and once at the end of the course. You do not need a separate vocabulary app or flashcard system; working through the lessons and their review tests in order already gives you that spaced repetition.
Why is vocabulary so important in language learning?
Grammar rules only get you so far — in a real conversation, the words you can recall in the moment decide what you can actually say and understand. Most researchers agree that vocabulary size is one of the strongest predictors of overall language proficiency, which is why this platform is built specifically around teaching words and phrases in real, memorable context rather than treating vocabulary as a side list to memorise.
Are there other resources worth using alongside this course?
This course is designed to be complete on its own for the vocabulary and practice side of learning Dutch or English. If you would like extra reading on how language proficiency levels work, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — the A1–C2 scale this course's levels are based on — is a good, free reference from the Council of Europe.
How does the 6-step learning process actually work?
Every lesson uses the same six exercises, in the same order: 1. Recognise — meet each new word with its pronunciation and meaning; 2. Match — pair words to meanings, in both directions; 3. In a Sentence — see the word used correctly in context; 4. In a Story — meet it again inside a connected story or dialogue; 5. Listen & Write — hear it and spell it correctly; 6. Translate — write your own sentence and get instant AI feedback. Every course page has a full step-by-step walkthrough of this method under "How This Course Works".
What does "free trial" mean on this site?
A free trial gives you full access to a course's lessons and tests for a set number of days, with no payment details required and nothing charged automatically afterwards. If you like the course, you can then choose to pay for a full year of access; if you do not, your trial simply ends and nothing is billed.
How long can I access a course for free?
Most courses offer a 14-day free trial from the moment you sign up, with full access to everything in that course during those 14 days. The exact trial length for a specific course is always shown on that course's own page before you start.
Which content can I access for free?
Every paid course gives you a free trial covering its full content, and some courses are completely free with no paid tier at all (our VWO 1 maths course, for example). Each course page states clearly, before you sign up, whether it is a free trial or a fully free course.
Which content on the site is completely free, not just a trial?
Our VWO 1 maths course is completely free, permanently — no trial, no payment, no time limit. Sign up and start straight away.
What do the language courses on this site actually offer me?
A structured path through real, usable vocabulary at your level (A2 to B2 for Dutch, A2 to B2 for English) — words and phrases with correct pronunciation, used in real sentences and stories, practised until they stick, with an AI checking your open answers and translations instantly instead of you waiting for a teacher. You study at your own pace, with no fixed class times and no exam-style pressure, and you can see your progress through points (XP) and levels as you go.
What are the terms of the paid membership?
Paid access runs for one year from the date of purchase at the price shown on the course page (currently €19.90/year), covers full access to that course, and does not renew automatically — you decide separately whether to continue after the year ends. Full details are on our Terms & Conditions page.
What makes this site's vocabulary and memory exercises different from typical language-learning apps?
Most language apps repeat isolated words or short match-the-pairs games. Here, every word moves through six deliberately different stages — recognition, matching, a real sentence, a real story, listening and spelling, and your own free translation — so the same word is tested from multiple angles instead of just being shown again. On top of that, your open-ended translations are checked by AI with personal feedback, not just marked right or wrong, and the review tests are spaced out (after each chapter, after groups of chapters, and at the very end) specifically to fight forgetting rather than just repeating recent material.
